March 27, 2012 — Just prior to the regular meeting of the NC Soil and Water Conservation Commission on March 21, 2012, five local soil and water conservation district supervisors were sworn in as members of the Commission. Congratulations To Raffle Winners!

A fund raising raffle was conducted in association with the annual meeting of the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts which was held January 8-10, 2012 at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons. The drawing was conducted during the Tuesday night banquet and winners are as follows:

Third Place Prize, $300 cash — Kenneth Sturgill, Ashe County

Second Place Prize, Holland grill — Roger Eaker, Cleveland County

First Place Prize, John Deere Gator — Cindy Wilkins, Randolph County.

Porters Recognized as SE Farmers of the Year

Tommy and Vicky Porter were recently recognized at the Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo October 18-20, 2011. Tommy is an Associate Supervisor with the Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District. Vicky serves as a Supervisor with the District and also as the Governor’s at large appointee to the Soil and Water Conservation Commissin. Ag Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Funds Announced

John Langdon, Johnston Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, recognized in the National Hog Farmer magazine.
