North Carolina Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts

The Jane Iseley Farm in Alamance County has recently been selected by the NC Associaiton of Soil and Water Conservation Districts as the 2013 Outstanding Conservation Farm Family.  The competitive program starts with the selection of an outstanding farmer by the local soil and water conservation district.  After competing at the area and regional levels, the farms selected to represent the mountain, piedmont, and coastal plain regions of the state are judged by a panel of five judges to select a state Outstanding Conservation Farm Family.  For information about the Iseley Farm visit www.iseleyfarms.com.   An on-farm celebration will be held in the fall of 2013.

The Association’s Legislative Breakfast will be held in the NC Legislative Building Cafeteria on Thursday,  March 7, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

All district supervisors are asked to take the following actions:  (1) Hold the date of March 7, 2013 open on their calendar; (2) Attend the breakfast if at all possible; (3) When notified that the invitations have gone out to all legislators, call their representative and senator and encourage their participation in the breakfast.

A fund raising raffle was conducted in association with the annual meeting of the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts which was held January 6-8, 2013 at the Sheraton Imperial RTP, Durham, NC.  The drawing was conducted during the Tuesday night banquet and winners are as follows:

$100 Winners:  Teresa Hice, Wake County; Richard Hoyle, Nash County; Don Lee Perry, Nash County; Roger Eakers, Shelby, NC; Bill Davis, Tryon, NC

$300 Winner: Donald Heath, Craven County
